DAY 1
   

0800 hrs
We depart by a 4WD vehicle to ‘Ras Al Junaiz’ via the scenic and rugged coastal route.
This tour along the coastline offers breathtaking glimpses of the blue waters of the Gulf of Oman offset by pristine white beaches. We drive past the fishing village of Quriyat and our first stop is the Bimah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom. On clear sunny days while driving along the coast one might by chance see sharks in the deep blue waters or fleet footed Gazelles sprint across the landscape.

Drive ahead to Wadi Tiwi. The road to Tiwi winds between houses. The sight is remarkable with its lush green plantations with water flowing all year around. The Mausoleum of Bibi Miriam at Qalhat stands as testimony of a bygone era. As we continue from here the road winds through the mountain terrain. We continue our drive to Ras Al Junaiyz, a sanctuary for the green turtles.

Dinner and overnight stay in Ras Al Had Hotel. We have a short drive to the beach to watch the turtles nestling on the sands.

   
   
DAY 2

For those interested in watching the hatchlings, the early morning hours are perfect.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel .Having enjoyed the morning we proceed to visit Wadi Bani Khalid. It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. It is Advisable to wear light comfortable clothing and walking shoes.

We continue our drive to Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and White sand dunes rising up to 200 meters, which are also, home to a variety of flora and fauna. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Experience a roller coaster like feeling as you make your way in your four wheel drive over the dunes.
Drive to Nizwa and check-in at the Golden Tulip Nizwa Hotel. Overnight stay at the
Golden Tulip Nizwa, Hotel.

   
   
DAY 3

Breakfast at the hotel
Visit the Round Tower Fort of Nizwa. Next to it is the Souk which is famous for
its Silver and Omani wares. Visit the famous Palace of Jabrin built in the late 17th
Century, which became a seat of Omani learning. Depart for the Al Hamra village datePlantations. Visit the stone house village of Misfah. Then drive to Wadi Ghul with its terrace farming. Proceed further to Jebel Shams. (mountain of the sun). Stop at Oman’s highest mountain peak and view Oman’s grand canyon which has vertical drop of 1000 metres. Drive to Muscat visiting en route the pretty village of Birkat Al Mauz. Enjoy a walk through the lush green date plantations. Return to Muscat.

Important notes for the package

  • Suggest guests carry their own picnic lunch
  • For the physically active persons only
  • Never approach turtles emerging from the sea or disturb nesting Turtles.
  • Watch out for disoriented hatchlings and direct them seaward.
  • Never leave waste on the beach.
  • Avoid making noise around the nesting area of beach.
  • Using the flashlight is prohibited. The best photo opportunity would be early morning around 0530 hrs.
  • Carry light pullovers in dark colours only.
